There is a new blend coming out of Altadis USA’s Montecristo 1935 line, the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edición Diamante.
In 2020, Montecristo celebrated its 85th anniversary as a brand. Toward the end of that year, Altadis USA released the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua. This was a project that was a collaboration between Altadis USA’s Rafael Nodal and AJ Fernandez. At the time this 85th-anniversary project was being developed, there was another blend that was considered. Nodal felt that the tobaccos in the blend needed more aging, so the blend was not used at that time. That blend was the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edición Diamante and it is now set to be released.
The Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edición Diamante is described as more dialed back compared to the original Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua. The blend uses all-Nicaraguan tobaccos. According to a report by Cigar Aficionado the blend features, a lower priming hybrid Cuban seed wrapper from the Jalapa region, a binder from Ometepe, and three fillers from Estelí.
The line is being released in six soft box-pressed sizes. Each size is presented in ten-count boxes.
