Scandinavian Tobacco Group has announced a new regular production offering known as the Punch Golden Era. It’s a cigar that highlights Corojo tobacco. The tobacco in the cigar comes from the Eiroa family’s JRE Tobacco Farm and is rolled at JRE’s Fabrica de Puros Aladino SA in Honduras.
The name Golden Era highlights the fact that Corojo tobacco has a prominent role during the golden age of cigars. Corojo had been a wrapper of choice for many cigars until tobacco diseases and mold brought the tobacco to the brink of extinction. While there are hybrid variants of Corojo that help mitigate disease, Eiroa family patriarch Julio Eiroa is credited with bringing back authentic Corojo
The Punch Golden Era is made with Honduran-grown, Cuban seed Corojo wrapper and binder, and its filler is comprised of Honduran-grown Habano and Cuban-seed Corojo tobacco.
“The Eiroa family has perfected Corojo tobacco and we are excited to bring it to life with Punch Golden Era. This tobacco delivers a silky, golden wrapper, a binder with ideal combustibility and a filler that produces unique spicy notes and a spectrum of nuances. We’re especially pleased to make a true Corojo experience available for cigar lovers to enjoy any time the occasion calls for a rich and rewarding smoke,” commented John Hakin, Brand Manager of Punch.
Available in three sizes, the Punch Golden Era will be presented in 20-count boxes and will ship to retailers on May 1. Punch is distributed by General Cigar Company.
