At the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Joya de Nicaragua introduced the Antaño Power Play Sling Puck offering. This offering packages ten Antaño Gran Reserva GT20 6 x 54 Gran Toro cigars with ten Antaño CT Toro 6 x 50 cigars. In addition, the box the cigars are housed in can be used to play a game of Sling Puck.
Sling Puck is a game where each player gets a set of pucks. The idea is to get rid of your pucks by propelling them to your opponent’s side through a small hole using an elastic band mechanism.
“Building on the success of Antaño Shut the Box, we learned that cigar enthusiasts are keen to combine their cigars with fun. This time we’ve merged the profiles of their favourite Nicaraguan puros into one game, teasing their tastebuds with contrasting flavors,” commented Juan Ignacio Martinez, Executive President of Joya de Nicaragua in a press release.
The packaging was produced in conjunction with HumidifGroup and includes HumidifGroup’s NFC technology.“ It has been an absolute joy to collaborate with Nicaragua’s oldest cigar manufacturer,” opined Pedro Balgañon, CEO and owner of HumidifGroup. “This project brings our smart packaging to life, driving innovation in the cigar industry, while honoring the legacy and rich history of this cherished tradition.”
It’s not the first time Joya de Nicaragua has allowed a box to be used to play a game. In 2020, Joya de Nicaragua released the Antaño Shut the Box offering.
The Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Power Play Sling Puck offering is limited to 2,000 boxes with 1,400 allocated for the U.S. market. Pricing is set at $255.75 per box. Following PCA, Joya de Nicaragua will showcase the Sling Puck offering at InterTabac 2023 in Dortmund, Germany in September 2023. This will be around the same time the Sling Puck offerings will begin arriving at retailers.
