Ashton is a company that does not come out with new cigars every year. Going into this year’s Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, the company had its first new release in two years. During this time, much of the focus has been on the La Aroma de Cuba line. As for the new cigar, it’s the La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut. It’s the sixth regular production blend to fall under the La Aroma de Cuba line. As the name indicates, it is a Connecticut Shade release – the first in the La Aroma de Cuba portfolio. The cigar started shipping just prior to the 2023 PCA Trade Show. It’s also a cigar that made a big impression on the Cigar Coop Coalition team.

The La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut features an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and fillers. The cigars are being launched in seven sizes:  Rothschild (5 x 50, $6.25 MSRP), Robusto (5 1/4 x 54, $6.50 MSRP), Corona (5 1/2 x 44, $6.50 MSRP), Immenso (5 3/4 x 60, $7.50 MSRP), Monarch (6 x 52, $7.25 MSRP), Churchill (7 x 50, $7.85 MSRP), and El Jefe (7 x 58, $8.45 MSRP). Production comes from My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. With the prices ranging from $6.25 to $8.45, it clearly was one of the bigger bargains to come out of this year’s trade show.
