The 2023 Cigar of the Year Countdown commences on December 8, 2023. This is the 14th consecutive year Cigar Coop has run a Cigar of the Year Countdown.

Every year since 2010, Cigar Coop published its annual Cigar of the Year Countdown.  This is a project where we count down the Top 30 Cigars of the year. Like previous editions, each day the 2023 Cigar of the Year Countdown will unveil a cigar from the top 30 cigars selected by Coop in reverse order ranking. We will take a break on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. On January 8th, we will unveil our choices for #1 and #2 Cigars of the Year.

The concept was based off of Casey Kasem‘s American Top 40 and was the first list in the cigar industry to countdown each of the cigars that comprise it. To date, this remains one of our most popular annual features on the Cigar Coop website.

While we will get into all of the criteria on the eve on the Countdown, the 2023 Cigar of the Year Countdown was the hardest to find 30 eligible cigars. Usually there is a group of cigars on the bubble and some make the list and some fall short. This year there were exactly 30 cigars that met the criteria. In fact, for a while it looked like less than 30 cigars would make the Countdown.

In addition to the daily posts for the 2023 Cigar of the Year Countdown which can be found on the Cigar Coop website, there will be audio and video components available on YouTube, Odysee, Podbean, Apple Podcasts or your favorite podcast catcher.
