Forged Cigar Company has announced the return of the La Gloria Cubana Corojo de Oro for 2024. This small-batch cigar was first released in 2023 and contains a unique hybrid proprietary leaf called Corojo de Oro.
In fact, the Corojo de Oro varietal was created by crossing two Cuban seed tobaccos, Corojo 97-98 and the rare Pelo de Oro. The leaf was grown and cultivated in the Mao region, located in the Northwestern part of the Dominican Republic.
On paper, the Corojo de Oro 2024 blend seems analogous to the original release. The remainder of the blend features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and filler tobaccos consisting of Brazilian Mata Fina, Dominican Piloto Cubano, and Nicaraguan Ometepe. The cigar comes in one size – a 6 x 50 Toro. Production comes from the El Credito Cigar Factory, a factory within a factory located at General Cigar Dominicana in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The cigars are presented in 20-count boxes and are priced at $10.49 per cigar. However, the production numbers are limited and have not been disclosed.
In a press release, Cory Beardsley, assistant brand manager for La Gloria Cubana states, “In creating a new tobacco varietal, our artisans developed Corojo de Oro to be a distinctive cigar that is unlike any other blend. This cigar is one of those rare finds, and it delivers on its promise of providing an extraordinary smoking experience.”
