At the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Black Star Line Cigars will release Marun. Marun will be the company’s fifth-anniversary cigar, and the La Zona factory will roll it in Estelí, Nicaragua.
The name Marun means “five” in Yoruba. The Yoruba are an indigenous tribe of Nigeria. The blend consists of an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers. The cigar will be nationally released in one size, a 6 x 50 vitola. The cigar is limited in production, with only 5,000 cigars produced in the first run. Black Star Line cigars plans for the Marun to ship in June. Pricing is set at $12.99 MSRP per cigar.
“The opportunity to work with the Espinosa team was brought to me by Richie “Riot” Otero. He recognized our hard work and proposed we do a project with La Zona. It was Great working with Hector Alfonso, the master blender at La Zona. He is a wealth of knowledge and taught me and my team some new things,” commented Aric Bey in a press release. “This is a significant year for us. It came up fast and I can’t believe I’ve had this much success in a short period of time. The fifth year for most businesses is a pivotal year and we are looking to keep growing.”
Black Star Line says a 6 1/2 x 48 box-pressed version of Marun will be released exclusively for Oak Glen Tobacconist in Yucaipa, CA. This cigar will feature a closed foot and have a small run of 1,400 cigars.
