Crowned Heads has announced it will release Blood Medicine Limited Edition 2024. Blood Medicine is a brand that Crowned Heads used as an event-only cigar. Now, Blood Medicine gets a national release, with the blend adjusted to a 6 x 52 Toro.
Blood Medicine was first released in 2015 as an event-only cigar, with a total production of 6,000 cigars. In 2022, it returned and was once again released as an event-only cigar. Previously, Blood Medicine saw the cigar released in a 5 x 50 Robusto size.
“To this point, we’ve only utilized ‘Blood Medicine’ as an event-only, gift-with-purchase cigar, and always in a traditional 5″ x 50 robusto vitola,” commented Crowned Heads co-founder Jon Huber in a press release.”The blend has always been truly exceptional, and based upon the inquiries and feedback I was personally receiving, I felt as though not enough people were receiving the opportunity to enjoy it. So late last year, we decided to take the blend, adjust it to a 6″ x 52 vitola, and make it available internationally.”
The name Blood Medicine has ties to the city of Nashville, where Crowned Heads has its headquarters. Blood Medicine takes its name from a building on the corner of Broadway and 4th Avenue in downtown Nashville. The original structure was a three-story building built in 1872. On the third floor, there was a wholesale drug company that was famous for producing the alcohol and opium-based “Blood Medicine.” From 1892 to 1988, the building was The Merchant’s Hotel. Nashville’s music scene has attracted some legendary musicians, including Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and Patsy Cline, to stay at the hotel over the years. More recently, the building has been home to Merchants Restaurant, and the name “Blood Medicine” can still be seen on the brick wall.
When Blood Medicine was initially released in 2015, it was produced out of the My Father Cigars factory. The 2022 return saw the production of Blood Medicine come out of Eladio Pichardo’s TacaNicsa factory. The blend features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Ecuadorian Connecticut binder, and all Nicaraguan fillers. There are 1,500 twelve-count boxes. The SRP is $11.95 per cigar.
It is expected that Crowned Heads will showcase Blood Medicine at the 2024 PCA Trade Show.
