In a lot of ways, the theme for Rocky Patel Premium Cigars at the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show picked up where last year left off. Gone are the days where Rocky Patel would release half a dozen new vitolas each year and now the company is focusing on a couple of releases. Like last year, there was one premium cigar released coming in around the $10 to $13.00 range with Gold Label. Meanwhile, there is an ultra-premium release with Year of the Dragon. While the ultra-premium release isn’t close to the price point of the $100.0o Rocky Patel Conviction, it still comes it at a $35.00 price point. The other thing that has not changed is that Rocky Patel himself always makes time to talk to our team, and he is showing no signs of losing his passion for the cigar industry.
While it was announced prior to PCA 2024, Gold Label officially was unveiled at PCA 2023. Gold Label will be highlighted by an Ecuadorian wrapper and features a double binder and all-Nicaraguan fillers. Presented in 20-count boxes, Gold Label is offered in four sizes: Petite Corona, Robusto, Toro, and Sixty.
The story of Gold Label was the price point which comes in between $9.70 and $13.00. The idea behind this line was to showcase a cigar that looks luxurious, but has a very aggressive price point. Incidentally, one can say Gold Label is the follow-up to 2022’s Rocky Patel White Label. At the same time, Gold Label comes in several dollars less per cigar than White Label.
The other release is the limited edition Rocky Patel Year of the Dragon. It’s a cigar that is being released gl0bally. The U.S. is receiving a 6,000 ten-count boxes of a 6 1/2 x 50 Toro. There is also a Robusto Grande available duty free and a Robusto sold internationally. The U.S. release still is one of the more premium cigars ever made available by Rocky Patel coming in at a $35.00 price point. Produced at TAVICUSA, Year of the Dragon features a Mexican San Andres wrapper over all Nicaraguan tobaccos.
