La Palina is a staple at the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, and the 2024 show was no exception. The 2024 PCA Trade Show marked a rare occasion where La Palina did not debut a new line. However, this isn’t necessarily a negative development. The company introduced La Palina 1948 in the previous year, and it may be unrealistic for a company to release something new annually. In 2024, La Palina focused on expanding two of its premium brands – 125 Años and Goldie, by introducing line extensions.
La Palina Cigars has a limited production of its La Palina 125 Años line in the form of a 5 1/2 x 54 Robusto. The line was introduced in 2021 to commemorate 125 years since Samuel Haley (the grandfather of La Palina owner Bill Paley) founded the La Palina brand. La Palina 125 Años is a Nicaraguan puro that currently comes in a Toro size. When it was first released, it became La Salina’s first project with Oliva’s TABOLISA factory. Like the Toro, the Robusto is available in ten-count boxes.
For the fourth year in a row, retailers attending the PCA Trade Show had an opportunity to obtain the La Palina Goldie in the Prominente size. The Prominente is a 6 1/2 x 48 size. The 2024 edition is being dubbed “Series 4.” One could make the case that this is the most successful PCA Exclusive in the series’ history.
Finally, there is another Goldie set to hit the shelves this summer. It’s a 6 1/4 x 54 vitola currently being called TBD. It’s the first new Goldie size since 2021’s Goldie Laguito No.1. The TBD means “To Be Determined” because La Palina has not finalized a name. During the 2024 PCA, retailers were allowed to determine the final name through a vote of some candidate names. The final name and when the cigar ships are scheduled to be revealed this summer.
