Jonathan Carney, the long-time Vice President of Sales for La Flor Dominicana (LFD), and the company have parted ways. While no specifics were released, Cigar Coop was able to confirm the move in a text message exchange with Carney.
Carney has been at LFD since 2011 and has been the Vice President of Sales since 2013. He came to LFD from the hospitality and restaurant industries, including experience at Walt Disney World and Darden Restaurants. Carney is well-known for his gourmet culinary skills and has integrated those skills into La Flor Dominicana Events in the Gourmet Smoke Sessions series in recent years.
Carney also served on the board of the Tobacconists Association of America (TAA) and the New York State Tobacconists Association (NYTA) advisory board.
Carney is moving into a business venture with his father, Shoulders of Giants. This is a business venture focusing on social media and AI consulting.
Ines and Litto Gomez of La Flor Dominicana issued the following statement to retailers in regards to Carney’s departure.

“As we look ahead, our primary focus remains on creating exceptional cigars that our customers have come to love and expect from us. Our commitment to quality and innovation will continue to guide our efforts into the future, and we are confident in our team’s ability to sustain the work that has established LFD as a trusted name in the cigar industry.
