This week, Viaje has shipped the Viaje Furiosa Imperator to retailers. This is a new 6 x 50 Toro size of the Furiosa. It’s the first time this size has been offered in the Furiosa line.
Furiosa is a brand that pays homage to Imperator Furiosa, a character from the Mad Max: Fury Road motion picture. Furiosa first made its debut back in 2016. At the time, it was released in a 5 3/4 x 52 size under Viaje’s White Label Project (WLP). The WLP program uses simple packaging (often bundles) and white bands. Typically, WLP has served as a vehicle for Viaje to throw a “test balloon” into the market to see if it’s worth bringing back as a full release.
Last month, Viaje Furiosa returned after nearly eight years and released a new 5 x 50 size called Furiosa Fury. At that time, Furiosa officially “graduated” from the WLP program, getting its own packaging and banding. This month, the Furiosa Imperator followed up with a 6 x 50 size featuring the new packaging.
Details of the blend have not been disclosed, although the original blend was a Nicaraguan puro produced at the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras. The Furiosa Imperator comes in 51-count boxes. Like most Viaje releases, this is a small batch single release for the time being. Retailers have reported pricing of the Furiosa Imperator between $10.00 and $11.00 MSRP.
