Daniel Marshall is preparing to auction off two limited-edition presidential humidor lines for charity. Since this is a presidential election year, both humidors are themed around the Oval Office. In addition, both humidor styles will come packaged with special cigars blended by Carlito Fuente.
White House Humidor
First up is the White House Humidor. Daniel Marshall builds these at his workshop, and they are essentially a 1:60 replica of the White House built from the original drawings. Construction took one year to complete and is comprised of over 200 individually micro-carved pieces that surround the humidor. Moreover, Columbian artist Juan Rosillo painted each window of the White House humidor with shading to resemble glass.
There are 365 cigars available in two trays. The cigars come in two sizes – Robusto and Churchill. Each cigar features 12-year-old rare vintage tobacco grown on the Fuente family’s Chateau de la Fuente. The White House Humidor includes six oil canvas paintings, each featuring a different U.S. president. These images are also represented on the cigar bands. The six presidents are George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush.
The signatures of the six U.S. Presidents are featured on the cigar bands and in the oil paintings. They are also engraved on a solid brass plaque and a brass plate engraved with the story of the White House Humidor.
Ten individually numbered White House humidors have been made. Each comes with an engraved gold limited-edition plaque carved with the humidor’s number. Marshall says the last of the collection (#10) went to the White House for permanent display.
Last year, a Daniel Marshall White House Humidor sold for a record $250,000.00, raising funds for the After School All Stars Charity.
“The Daniel Marshall x Carlos Fuente Cigars are precious, they represent everything I look for in a cigar, effortless draw, rich and smooth taste, a cigar that comes alive,” commented Daniel Marshall in a press release. ‘With this cigar, I am torn. Half of me wants to light it, half of me wants to eat it.’” Fuente responded, “Brother, it is good enough to eat.”
HMS Resolute Desk Humidor
Next up is the HMS Resolute Desk Humidor. This humidor commemorates the historic desk that Queen Victoria gifted to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880. The desk was constructed from oak timbers of the British ship H.M.S. Resolute. Notably, this desk is still used in the Oval Office of the White House today.
Marshall also crafted this humidor. It was created from the original drawings from England and hand-carved from 85 individual intricate American Alder micro wood carvings over one year. Inlayed into the vintage leather of the desktop with 24kt gold tooling is a massive bronze recreation of the U.S. Lincoln Penny, which was coinstruck by the United States Mint in 1909.
According to Marshall, the concept for creating this famous Presidential Desk Humidor came from the Kung Fury 2 movie set when he visited the set in Bavaria. In that motion picture, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as the U.S. President. During lunch, Schwarzenegger and Marshall spoke about the desk and its role in our country’s history and in his movie Kung Fury 2. This led to the creation of the project.
The first two HMS Resolute Desk Humidors sold for $100,000.00 and $150,000.00 respectively. Schwarzenegger bought aa third one.
The remaining of the ten individually numbered humidors are being auctioned. Marshall will donate humidor #10 of the HMS Resolute Desk Humidor to the British Chatham Historic Dockyard Museum. This is the same Dockyard that built the HMS Resolute vessel and the Resolute Desk that was presented to the USA by Queen Victoria for permanent display.
