Today, we look at what was inside the 2024 Smoke Inn Advent Calendar for day 8. Warning: spoiler alert.
An Advent calendar counts down the days until Christmas. This tradition is believed to have originated with the German Lutherans. The calendar features moveable parts, such as flaps, doors, or pockets, that reveal a daily surprise. In 2021, Smoke Inn released its first Advent Calendar, where the “surprise” is a different cigar daily. For the first time since 2021, Smoke Inn has redesigned the package.
Today’s highlight is the The King is Dead Premier from Caldwell Cigar Company. Following his departure from CLE Cigar Company, Robert Caldwell launched Caldwell Cigar Company in 2014. At the time of his launch, he would release three blends under the banner of Caldwell Connection: Eastern Standard, Long Live the King, and The King is Dead. All three blends would focus on rare tobaccos. In the case of the King is dead, this cigar features a Dominican-grown Negrito wrapper. According to Caldwell Cigar Company, the reason why the Negrito wrapper is not found on many cigars is because it is a wrapper that just doesn’t play well with other tobaccos. However, the team at Tabacalera Ventura was able to figure a way to make the right matches with other tobaccos and thus the King is Dead blend came to life.
Earlier this year, Caldwell Cigar Company was sold to Laudisi Enterprises.
