Crowned Heads has announced that its Blood Medicine LE (Limited Edition) will return for 2025. This year, Crowned Heads will expand the line with three new sizes.
Blood Medicine was first released in 2015 as an event-only cigar. In 2022, it returned and was once again released as an event-only cigar. Previously, Blood Medicine saw the cigar released in a 5 x 50 Robusto size. In 2024, Blood Medicine returned again – this time in a 6 x 52 Toro.
For 2025, all three sizes in the line are completely new. These sizes include: 5 x 52 ($10.50/cigar), 5 1/2 x 56 ($11.50/cigar), and 6 x 54 ($12.50/cigar). Each is presented in 21-count cabinet boxes, limited to 700 boxes per size. The blend features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over all Nicaraguan tobaccos. Blood Medicine LE 2025 is manufactured at the TacaNicsa factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.
“The response to last year’s Blood Medicine LE 2024 was overwhelming, and actually caught us off guard a bit,” commented Crowned Heads co-founder Jon Huber. “Last year, the 1,500 boxes sold out in a matter of days, and the feedback to that release and the demand for more was insane. So this year we’re expanding the brand and we are releasing the original blend in 21-count cabs available in three different vitolas, in the hopes that more people can experience this dynamic and unique cigar.”
The name Blood Medicine has ties to the city of Nashville, where Crowned Heads has its headquarters. Blood Medicine takes its name from a building on the corner of Broadway and 4th Avenue in downtown Nashville. The original structure was a three-story building built in 1872. On the third floor, there was a wholesale drug company that was famous for producing the alcohol and opium-based “Blood Medicine.” From 1892 to 1988, the building was The Merchant’s Hotel. Nashville’s music scene has attracted some legendary musicians, including Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and Patsy Cline, to stay at the hotel over the years. More recently, the building has been home to Merchants Restaurant, and the name “Blood Medicine” can still be seen on the brick wall.
