During the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Perdomo Cigars proudly presented the Perdomo Legacy. This initiative, spearheaded by Nicholas Perdomo III, serves as a tribute to his father, Nick Perdomo Jr., honoring his significant contributions to the industry. This cigar introduces an innovative Shade-grown Hybrid leaf to the line. The Legacy has been a prominent topic of discussion and promotion in the weeks leading up to the Trade Show. However, it was not until the event commenced that Perdomo unveiled the packaging of the Legacy to the public.
“This exceptional brand is dedicated to my father and our founder, Nick Perdomo Jr.,” commented Nicholas Perdomo III in a press release. “It not only recognizes his incredible contributions to Perdomo Cigars over the past 30+ years but also highlights the lasting impact he has made—and continues to make—on the cigar industry.”
The Hybrid Seed
The Shade Grown Hybrid tobacco is the core and standout feature of the Legacy. The tobacco plant is grown from seeds that hybridize both Cuban and Cameroonian seeds. According to Perdomo Cigars, each seed has distinguishing characteristics:
- Cuban Seed: Renowned for its full-bodied flavor, excellent combustion, and complex aroma, it
imparts depth and richness to each cigar. - Cameroon Seed: Famous for its toothy texture and natural sweetness with a subtle hint of spice,
It adds smoothness and balance to the blend.
The Shade Grown Hybrid wrapper was used for the Legacy Nicaragua Shade-Grown blend. In addition, there is also a Connecticut and Maduro blend that uses the Shade Grown Hybrid tobacco as a binder.
“Over a decade ago, my father established a shade-grown operation on our 600-acre farm, Finca Natalie, in Estelí, Nicaragua. The mineral-rich volcanic soil created the perfect environment for cultivating a rich, flavorful tobacco from a hybridized Cuban-Cameroon seed developed in collaboration with our agronomy and genetics teams. I am beyond excited and proud to share this exceptional tobacco—the Perdomo Nicaraguan Shade-Grown—with our loyal retailers, devoted consumers, and the entire cigar world.”
