General Cigar has announced the release of CAO Amazon Basin Dagger. The Amazon Basin Dagger is a limited-edition that brings the brand’s popular Amazon Basin blend into a compact 4 x 38 format. The Amazon Basin Daggers are set to hit stores in June 2025.
The filler for the Dagger blend, similar to the original Amazon Basin, features the rare and low-yield Brazilian Bragança. This unique tobacco is grown organically in pristine, remote areas of the Amazon Rainforest and is harvested only once every three years. After the harvest, the tobacco leaves are carefully rolled into tubes, referred to as carottes. These carottes are then subjected to high-pressure fermentation before being transported by canoe from the depths of the rainforest.
In addition to Bragança tobacco, the filler of the CAO Amazon Basin contains Colombian and Dominican tobacco. Additionally, the cigar incorporates an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and Nicaraguan binder. Production comes from STG Estelí in Nicaragua. Dagger comes packaged in five-pack paper bundles. Each five-pack is priced at $24.99 SRP. A counter display is also available to retailers.
In a press release announcing Amazon Basin Daggers, Cory Beardsley, brand manager for CAO, said, “Amazon Basin fans are some of the most passionate in the cigar world. We’ve seen how quickly the original sells out and heard the same question every year: when are we getting more? Daggers are our answer to that. It’s the same blend, same rainforest story, now available in a new format.”
David Mealey, National Sales Manager for General Cigar, was a guest on Episode 578 of KMA Talk Radio to discuss the Dagger project.
