El Rey Del Mundo was one of the many brands Forged Cigar Company showcased at the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show. El Rey del Mundo is a Cuban heritage brand where Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) sells a non-Cuban version. When STG spun off Forged Cigar Company in 2021, one of the first things it did was to take the El Rey del Mundo line and put it under the Forged umbrella. Previously, El Rey del Mundo was sold through JR Cigar and distributed through Santa Clara Cigars. This move was similar to STG’s when it took Diesel and moved in under the Brick and Mortar line. Over the past two years, Forged has grown the El Rey del Mundo brand, adding several releases. This year, the Appointment was Forged’s release for El Rey del Mundo.
El Rey del Mundo Appointment
There are a couple of things about this release. First, Appointment is the second El Rey del Mundo release to use tobacco from the JRE Tobacco farm. In this case, Appointment uses JRE’s Honduran-grown Cameroon seeds wrapper. Last year, El Rey del Mundo released “The King of the World”, a limited edition Honduran puro made at Julio R. Eiroa’s Fabrica Puros de Aladino facility. The non-Cuban version of the El Rey del Mundo brand has Honduran roots, so these partnerships with the Eiroas make sense.
Second, El Rey del Mundo has been a value-priced brand in the Forged portfolio. Forged keeps the Appointment an under $10.00 line for all three sizes, but it definitely has a more premium look to it.
For those keeping score at home, the remainder of the blend is a Connecticut Broadleaf binder with Nicaraguan and Ecuadorian fillers. It comes in three sizes:
- Robusto: 5 x 50 (SRP $8.79/cigar)
- Toro: 6 x 54 (SRP: $9.19/cigar)
- Gordo: 6 1/2 x 60 (SRP $9.49/cigar)
The Appointment has already begun shipping to stores.
