Today, we review the Fuente Fuente OpusX La Edición De La Sociedad, a cigar also known as The OpusX Society cigar. The OpusX Society is a venture started by Manny Iriarte Enterprises. The founder of the company, Manny Iriarte, has long collaborated with Arturo Fuente on packaging, box, and accessory design. Iriarte would launch The OpusX Society as another outlet intended to cater to the rabid fan base of OpusX. This is a separate company from Arturo Fuente, but it nonetheless receives the company’s support. The OpusX Society offers accessories and exclusive products featuring original art inspired by the OpusX brand. In 2023, the first OpusX Society Cigar was announced, OpusX La Edición De La Sociedad. This cigar was released to market late last year.
The OpusX brand was launched by Carlito Fuente in 1995. Over the years, Fuente has collaborated with several distribution partners to offer exclusive OpusX-branded cigars. Some of these partners include Prometheus, Elie Bleu, Brizard & Co., and, of course, The OpusX Society. The first exclusive cigar for The OpusX Society is called La Edición De La Sociedad. At the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, the second release for The OpusX Society, titled Gold & Bullet, was showcased.
Without further ado, let’s turn our attention to the La Edición De La Sociedad cigar and see what this cigar brings to the table. This cigar was from the first batch that was shipped late in 2024.

Appearance
As mentioned, the wrapper of La Edición De La Sociedad is undisclosed. It is one of the darker color variants I have seen on an OpusX wrapper. I would describe it as oscuro, with a medium-roast coffee bean color. There wasn’t much in the way of oils on this wrapper. Upon closer examination, there were some visible veins as well as some minimally visible wrapper seams.

PERFORMANCE
Pre-Light Draw
Before beginning the cigar experience, I removed the ribbon and sleeve from La Edición De La Sociedad. Before I cut the cigar, I gave it a thorough visual inspection. I also did an aroma inspection, and there was a sweet (very natural) cocoa aroma to this cigar. It had one of the best natural pre-light scents I’ve ever experienced from a cigar. With inspections done, it was time to cut the cap off the cigar and perform the pre-light draw ritual. The cold draw mostly mirrored the aromas, with a predominant note of cocoa and some natural tobacco notes mixed in. Overall, this was an excellent pre-light draw experience. At this point, it was time to toast up La Edición De La Sociedad and move into the smoking phase.
Tasting Notes
La Edición De La Sociedad opened with prominent notes of cocoa and natural tobacco. It also featured hints of raisin, earth, cream, and mixed pepper. I’ve noticed that when I detect a raisin note, 90% of the time, the tobacco tends to be young or unfermented. However, there are exceptions, and in this case, the raisin note presented a pleasant, balanced sweetness, falling into that remaining 10%. Early on, the cocoa and raisin notes stood out prominently, accompanied by an additional layer of black pepper on the retrohale.
In the first third of La Edición De La Sociedad, the natural tobacco notes moved to the forefront, gradually becoming the primary flavor before the midway point. Meanwhile, cocoa joined the notes of raisin, earth, and pepper. Just before reaching the midpoint, the intensity of the pepper began to increase gradually, while the creaminess subsided.
The pepper joined the natural tobacco in the final third. The natural tobacco didn’t get bitter. Meanwhile, the raisin and cocoa provided a little additional sweetness. At the same time, some of the earth notes were still present, and the creaminess was gone. This is the way La Edición De La Sociedad came to a close. The resulting nub was soft to the touch and cool in temperature.
Burn
The burn of La Edición De La Sociedad started fairly straight, but as the cigar experience progressed, it became somewhat jagged, and a slight amount of meandering occurred. Touch-ups remedied this, but I found that it needed more touch-ups than it deserved. The ash was skewed toward the looser side, with some occasional flaking. The ash itself had a silver-gray hue. Meanwhile, the burn rate and burn temperature were both ideal.

Draw
The draw to La Edición De La Sociedad performed exceptionally well. It had a touch of resistance to it, which is something that I like. At the same time, this was a low-maintenance cigar to derive flavor from.
Strength and Body
Overall, La Edición De La Sociedad delivered a medium strength, medium to full-bodied experience from start to finish. There was a slight increase in intensity along the way, but ultimately, the cigar remained in the medium-strength to full-bodied range of each respective spectrum. In terms of strength versus body, the body maintained the edge from start to finish.
BANDING AND PACKAGING NOTES (*)
OpusX is a brand known for its unique packaging and vibrant color scheme. La Edición De La Sociedad continues this tradition.

The packaging is highlighted by its use of blue and, to a lesser extent, yellow. In particular, a marine blue color is present on the box, band, and ribbon. The colors absolutely pop and do their job. The cigar can easily be identified as an OpusX, and the color hues immediately distinguish it as something different, namely, an OpusX Society Cigar. I also love the world map on the Vista. Manny Iriarte told Cigar Coop that the map is intended to acknowledge that OpusX is a truly global brand. Finally, I also love the tray design on the box and how the top tray is removable. The metal plate accents on the corner provided a great touch as well.

OVERALL ASSESSMENT
Final Thoughts
The packaging of La Edición De La Sociedad is beautiful, and the cigar itself offers a comparable smoking experience. It has a different profile compared to previous OpusXs, but in many ways, this is the most approachable OpusX I have encountered. The softer, creamier notes, especially at the beginning, contribute to its accessibility. At the same time, there is enough boldness to remind you of the cigar’s true essence.
La Edición De La Sociedad received a score of 90 points, earning it the Cigar Coop Standard of Excellence designation. This cigar is on the pricier side; I paid $99.00 for it, and I now see prices in the $135.00 range. While it’s difficult to recommend cigars at this price point, La Edición De La Sociedad is an excellent choice for those looking to splurge.
