Artesano Del Tobacco has announced a new size to its El Pulpo line, The Squid. The Squid adheres to El Pulpo’s sea theme and introduces a 6 1/2 x 60 box-pressed perfecto to the lineup. The Squid begins shipping on August 28, 2025.
Produced by AJ Fernandez, The Squid features a San Andrés Maduro wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler. It comes in ten-count boxes, with pricing at $20.00 MSRP/cigar.
“’The SQUID’ upholds the cherished blend of the original EL Pulpo cigars, featuring a rich Mexican San Andres Maduro wrapper complemented by a Nicaraguan binder and filler. Crafted at AJ Fernandez in Nicaragua and encased in a beautifully designed wooden box that reflects the original El Pulpo packaging, each box contains ten meticulously rolled Perfecto cigars,” said Billy Bass & Gus Fakih of Artesano Del Tobacco in a press release.
They continued, “Based on suggestions from our loyal consumers who desired a unique shape that embodies strength and balance of the El Pulpo blend, we opted for a perfecto shape. After enjoying a pre-release with friends at Matador Cigar Lounge in NYC, Willy—the GM—suggested naming it ‘The Squid’ due to its resemblance to this fascinating creature. We believe these perfectos represent a harmony between strength and flavor derived from our well-aged San Andres wrapper.”

Vitolas Offered
The El Pulpo is offered in six sizes. The Robusto Grande, Toro Grande, and Belicoso Grande are box-pressed offerings. These three sizes, along with the Lancero, come in ten-count boxes. The Fry comes in five-count soft packs (or a 20-count case). Meanwhile, the Octo Ocho is housed in coffins that are presented in boxes containing three coffins.
