Chik-fil-A Spicy Pretzel Cheddar Club

Today, we’re reviewing the Chick-fil-A Spicy Pretzel Cheddar Club, a standout creation from their limited-edition Pretzel Cheddar Club lineup offered in 2025. These sandwiches put a twist on three of Chick-fil-A’s most popular options, all are served on a pretzel bun and layered with cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and Dijon mustard. The trio of variants includes:

  • Original Pretzel Cheddar Club (based on Chick-fil-A’s original chicken filet)
  • Grilled Pretzel Cheddar club (based on Chick-fil-A’s grilled chicken filet offering)
  • Spicy Pretzel Cheddar Club (based on Chick-fil-A’s spicy chicken filet)

Chick-fil-A has its roots in 1949 when S. Truett Cathy, the chain’s former chairman and CEO, opened The Dwarf Grill in Hapeville, Georgia. The chain adopted the name Chick-fil-A in 1961. Initially, Chick-fil-A sold its chicken sandwiches to various establishments, including Waffle House and the Houston Astrodome. By 1967, Chick-fil-A stopped selling sandwiches to other restaurants and began its franchising model. Today, while still headquartered in Georgia, Chick-fil-A operates 3,279 franchises.

The Experience

For this evaluation, the scoring of a chicken sandwich is conducted in a manner similar to how hamburgers are scored. The primary distinction is that we evaluate chicken, rather than hamburgers. Just like with hamburgers, we apply the standard method to assess cheese and bacon as toppings.

  • Chicken: 4 points
  • Bun: 2 points
  • Condiments: 2 points
  • Intangibles: 2 points

Chicken

One thing is certain – Chick-fil-A delivers a very good chicken filet. In this case, the sandwich features a piece of moist chicken made from white meat. The breading contains a blend of spices, which includes cayenne pepper and paprika, though the full list of ingredients is not disclosed. The spices are balanced with the flavor of the chicken. The chicken breast is cooked in peanut oil.

Bun

I’ve had mixed experiences with pretzel buns from chain restaurants, but the one on the Spicy Pretzel Cheddar Club was perfect. It had a nice soft pretzel quality to it. There was a nice crust and a soft interior. In the case of other pretzel buns, they can be tough and chewy. The cross-cut at the top of the bun is a nice touch.

The toasting is a little more than light toasting, but I really liked it. Especially when combined with butter, it significantly enhances the flavor.

Condiments

Let’s break down each of the condiments of the Spicy Pretzel Cheddar Club one by one:

  • Cheddar Cheese: There is one slice. It wasn’t totally melted, but I found it worked well. There was a nice mix of creaminess and light sweetness. It was a little sharper than I expected – another positive.
  • Applewood Smoked Bacon:  There were three slices of bacon. The bacon was cooked perfectly until it was nice and crispy, and it had a delicious flavor from the applewood smoke. This was another winner.

  • Green Leaf Lettuce: This was not wilted and quite green. It didn’t really enhance anything, but it didn’t detract either.
  • Sliced Tomato: A decent tomato. Not as ripe as I would like, but nonetheless flavorful.
  • Creamy Dijon Mustard: This might be the secret ingredient. It has a nice creaminess and spice with a good mustard bite. This is served in a packet on the side.

Intangibles

As I’ve mentioned in many assessments, the most essential intangible is whether the overall experience exceeds the sum of its parts. In this case, the answer is yes. Dijon mustard is the secret ingredient that enhances the sandwich. You can easily control how much you add, and I used a full packet.

The portions are quite filling. The ratio of condiments to chicken is good; the condiments do not overpower the sandwich. You receive a generously sized piece of chicken, which is the star of the sandwich.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

This is one of the best chain restaurant sandwiches I’ve had in 2025.  In this case, I found Chick-fil-A stayed in its lane with the Spicy Pretzel Cheddar Club using its delicious spicy chicken filet as a foundation. The sandwich features a nice pretzel bun and some excellent condiments. The best part is that the ingredients all taste well together and complement each other. Some chain restaurants will create variants of their signature menu items, but use substandard ingredients. This was not the case with the best chain restaurant sandwiches I had in 2025.  In this case, I found Chick-fil-A stayed in its lane with the Spicy Pretzel Cheddar Club. I sincerely hope this limited-edition item eventually becomes a permanent one. Additionally, the $7.89 price point I paid was a complete value.
