Today, we review the Amazon Kitchen Chicken Noodle Soup. This is a different type of food review than anything that has been done on Coalition Eats in that Amazon Kitchen Chicken Noodle Soup is not a restaurant product, but a grocery product. Amazon Kitchen is the brand for Amazon’s grocery products, which include prepared foods. These items are sold through Amazon’s platforms, including Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market. In this context, the Chicken Noodle Soup is one of the prepared products offered by this brand.
Amazon Kitchen offers a wide variety of soups as well as pizzas, burritos, salads, single-serving meals, and meal kits. I received same-day delivery service for this order.
What is most different about this review is that this time the product requires a little preparation. In this case, the preparation is quite simple in that it involves heating up the product.

The Preparation
The soup is delivered vacuum-sealed and needs to be kept in the refrigerator prior to preparation. Below are the preparation instructions as recommended by Amazon:
Microwave: Pour the soup into a microwavable bowl and cover it with a paper towel. Microwave on high for 3 minutes. Stir, then microwave for 2-3 more minutes. Caution: Soup and bowl will be hot; let stand for 1 min. Stir and enjoy. Stove: Pour soup into the pot. Simmer on medium heat 10 min, stirring often.
For this assessment, the microwave method was used, and I went with two three-minute microwave cycles. This was relatively easy, even for a non-chef like me.
The Experience
The following is how scoring was handled for this review. I used a modified scoring from other soup reviews (such as Panera Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup). The chicken and noodles were scored together, but given that this soup had a bigger vegetable component, the scoring was adjusted.
- Stock (Broth): 4 points
- Chicken and Noodles: 2 points
- Vegetables and Extras: 2 points
- Intangibles: 2 points
Stock (Broth)
The Chicken Stock used in this Chicken Noodle Soup is derived from chicken bones, chicken fat, and water. Seasonings include sea salt, garlic, parsley, white pepper, thyme, bay leaves, and marjoram. I found this chicken broth to be outstanding. It has a wonderful, homestyle bone broth flavor that really shines through. What’s more, it’s not excessively salty, which is a big plus. In fact, it’s one of the best broths I’ve tasted, whether in a prepared soup or at a restaurant.
Score: 3.25 out of 4.0 points
Chicken and Noodles
The chicken in the soup was truly flavorful. While not all the meat was white, it still delivered a delightful taste. The noodles had a nice bite and weren’t mushy at all, adding to the overall enjoyment. My only wish is that there had been a bit more of both ingredients in the soup, but overall, they both earn high marks.
Score: 1.25 out of 2.0 points
Vegetables and Extras
In this dish, the primary vegetables featured are carrots and celery. The carrots, with their vibrant orange hue, contribute a striking visual element. They appeared to be cooked to an ideal consistency, enhancing the overall texture of the dish. In contrast, the celery was slightly overcooked, impacting its crispness. The onions played a more supportive role in the flavor profile and were also somewhat overdone. Additionally, although there were no visible bay leaves, the stock contained discernible notes of salt, pepper, and garlic, which added depth to the overall taste.
Score: 1.25 out of 2.0 points
Intangibles
I usually like to evaluate whether a soup offers an elevated experience compared to its individual components. In this case, I found that the soup indeed delivered a remarkable experience. The broth serves as an excellent foundation, and the quality of the ingredients enhances the overall flavor.
However, I noticed that while the chicken and noodles were good, they felt somewhat secondary to the vegetables. I was hoping for more chicken and noodles, as they were quite tasty. Despite this, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the soup was filling enough to be considered a small meal.
Score: 1.25 out of 2.0 points
OVERALL ASSESSMENT
This prepackaged soup was quite delicious. It features an outstanding stock with flavorful ingredients that stand out. It definitely surpasses most soups offered by chain restaurants and is much better than condensed dry soup mixes or instant cup soups. Although heating it up requires an extra step, I often find myself reheating soups from chain restaurants as well. One drawback is that this soup could have contained more chicken and noodles.
If you order this through Amazon, be mindful of delivery fees. Otherwise, it’s a product I would recommend without hesitation.
