Altadis USA, one of the largest cigar companies in the world will team up with Boutique Blends to release a collaborative project.  The collaboration will be a limited production blend called Romeo by Romeo y Julieta Aging Room Small Batch F25.  Plans are for this new cigar to hit retailer shelves in April.  Information on this announcement was first reported by Cigar Insider.

The new Romeo by Romeo y Julieta Aging Room project is a cigar that is produced at Tabacelera La Palma, the long time manufacturing partner of Boutique Blends.  The line will be distributed by Altadis USA.  It will be sold under the Romeo y Julieta brand, but as the name indicates it will also contain Aging Room in the name.  The F25 denotes when the blend was created – in this case “Friday the 25th day of the year”.

The cigar will be a Dominican puro and leverage tobaccos grown by Tabacalera La Palma owner Jochy Blanco.  The project follows Boutique Blends formula for limited small batch production, although a total of 250,000 cigars are planned.  Boutique Blends’ President Rafael Nodal told Cigar Insider that Altadis’ sent supervisors to Tabacalera La Palma to oversee production to ensure their standards were being met.

While Altadis runs the massive Romeo by Romeo y Julieta Aging Room Small Batch F25 de Garcia in the Dominican Republic, this is the second project in the past year where they have collaborated with another manufacturing partner.  Last year Altadis teamed up with Plasencia Cigars to create the Espada by Montecristo.
