#19 Oliveros Swag |
We are now getting into the meat of the Top 20 of “30 Cigars in 31 Days”, my review of the Top 30 Cigars of 2010.
Slotting in at Number 19 is the Oliveros’ Swag. This cigar made its debut at the 2010 IPCPR and this one truly rocked me. Then again, this doesn’t surprise me as Oliveros has proven to be one of the most consistent brands on the market.
The stick is a Puro Dominicano – meaning an all Habano Dominicano Ligero Wrapper, Binder, and Filler. On the Swag Cigars site it says “This is not your father’s Dominican Cigar…..This is a new kind of Dominican Cigar, with the aroma, flavor, and combustion that Dominican tobacco is known for, but with the complexity and character until now only found in Nicaraguan tobacco”. And these aren’t just buzz words – this cigar truly lives up to what how its advertised. I found a wonderful complexity in this medium to full strength and bodied cigar. The flavors that make up this complexity include coffee, cedar spice, and leather.
The amazing thing – I originally smoked the “Fierce” Vitola (Torpedo – 6.5 x 52), but fell in love with the “Elite” Lancero (38 x 7). Honestly, this might have been one of the best Lanceros I’ve ever had – even though I normally don’t reach for a Lancero.
A final note -the Torano Family has gotten a lot of buzz for producing the Single Region cigar from a single farm. It is also worth noting the Swag gets its Dominican tobacco from the same farm too.
Nice thing – this cigar will be in the value-priced range of $5.00-$8.00.
