#26: My Father Limited Edition 2011 |
This epic encounter brings us to the son of a cigar legend that has become one of the top blenders in the business.
Coming in at #26 is the My Father Limited Edition 2011. This is the second limited edition cigar in the “My Father” line. Originally this cigar was assessed as a “Nice to Have” as opposed to “Memorable” on my assessment scale. However, this is a classic case of a cigar just getting better with time and age, and this has allowed the My Father Limited Edition to become an Epic Encounter.
Last year, we were told the 2010 Limited Edition cigars were personally rolled by Don Pepin Garcia and his son Jaime Garcia. For the 2011 cigar, Don Pepin and Jaime did not individually roll these cigars. This cigar is being marketed as “Jaime Garcia Master Blender”. While more My Father Limited Edition 2011 cigars have been produced than the 2010, production is still limited to about 5,000 boxes (up from the original 3,500)
The flavor profile serves up some decent complexity – notes of coffee, cream, caramel, cedar, tea, and of course – Garcia pepper. The cigar is medium to full in both strength and body, and the flavor is never sacrificed for flavor. Over the past few months, this cigar has gotten smoother and the flavors have really matured. Construction is flawless.
