This morning the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers (IPCPR) assocation is considering adding a Consumer Day and Comedy Roast in conjunction with its annual trade show. Details of this first surfaced in an email to its members this morning. The email was clear these events are under consideration and have not been finalized as of yet. Plans for these events are being considered for the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show scheduled in Las Vegas, Nevada beginning July 13th, 2013.
The Consumer Day would be held the afternoon of the last day of the trade show. The goal of the event would be to generate revenue to support legislative battles facing the cigar industry. The tickets would be made available to the first five hundred consumers that choose to purchase. According to the email, “Each ticket will include a pre-packaged assortment of select cigars purchased by the IPCPR from volunteer manufacturers, as well as a chance to walk the trade show floor to meet and interface with the individuals behind the brands in the industry.” At this time, no specifics on cost have been determined.
The Comedy Roast would also be aimed at consumers and be used to raise revenue against legislative battles. A celebrity comedian would be brought in to host. There would be, “A carefully selected roastee”. The ticket would include admission to the roast as well as heavy hors d’ oeuvres and access to an open bar. There will also be table and sponsorship opportunities.
While these events are not finalized, the IPCPR has informed its members as an effort to build support for these legislative fundraising opportunities.
