RoMa Craft Tobac Fomorian |
Note: This story has been updated (2/3/13) with information from a comment from RoMa Craft owner Skip Martin on Leaf and Grape in regards to the release of this cigar. This cigar is being released as an event only cigar to the DC Tweet-up event.
RoMa Craft Tobac has an ultra-limited candela cigar called the Fomorian. First pictures of the cigar were posted on co-owner Skip Martin’s facebook page on February 2nd. Only about ten boxes have been made and will only be made available to the 2013 DC Tweet-up event taking place in the Washington DC area during St. Patricks Day.
Martin described the Fomorian as “Fomorian! A candela CroMagnon EMH” and inferred the cigar would be available “just in time for St Paddy’s Day.” The Fomorian marks the first RoMa Craft candela offering that will be made available.
Martin said aesthetic issues with some of the Connecticut Broadleaf CroMagnon cigars caused him to set aside about 250 of the EMH vitolas from production. He then asked the factory to place a candela wrapper. The EMH stands for Early Modern Human and is a 5 x 56 Robusto Extra offering in the CroMagnon and CroMagnon Aquitaine lines. The name Fomorian is taken from Irish Mythology and also has been a character in the Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game.
RoMa Craft Tobac was formed last year as a collaboration between Skip Martin and Michael Rosales. Last year, we identified the company as one of our “Five Boutiques to Watch” at the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show.
Blend Profile
Based on Martin’s comment of this originating from the original CroMagnon blend, we can infer the following makes up the Formorian.
Wrapper: Candela
Filler: Nicaraguan (3 Fillers): Esteli, Condega, and a ligero leaf from a small farm north of Esteli on the Honduran border.
