Ashton Cigars is adding a fifth vitola to its ultra-premium Ashton ESG (Estate Sun Grown) line. The cigar will keep to the naming tradition of this line and will be entitled Ashton ESG 24 Year Salute. This will add a perfecto vitola into the line. First details were reported by Cigar Aficionado, and shortly afterwards the company posted a link on its Facebook page.
The Ashton ESG line was launched in 2006 to commemorate the company’s 20th anniversary and was titled the 20 Year Salute. The plan was to release subsequent releases each year until the company’s 25th anniversary in 2010. Things obviously have changed as the 24 Year Salute is the first new vitola in several years.
The ESG is a Dominican puro blended by Carlos Fuente, Jr. The selling point is a “unique Dominican wrapper” that is grown at Chateau de la Fuente in the Dominican Republic and not used on any other cigar. Because the tobaccos are limited, the 24 Year Salute – like the other vitolas in the ESG line will be limited production.
Cigar Aficionado says it is not known if Ashton will bring the 24 Year Salute to the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show and a release is scheduled for late 2013.
