Lou Rod, Lou Rod Snub Nose |
Lou Rodriguez, owner of Lou Rodriguez Cigars posted a photo of a new vitola that is coming to the new Lou Rod line of cigars. Like the first vitola announced, this will also be a 60 ring gauge – a 4 1/2 x 60 to be exact. Rodriguez dubbed this size the “Lou Rod Snub Nose”.
The Lou Rod is a new cigar by Lou Rodriguez Cigars that was launched at the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show this month in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Lou Rod introduces a more budget friendly cigar with simpler packaging, but it also introduces the company’s first rounded 6 x 60 cigar. The 4 1/2 x 60 now becomes a second size.
In terms of the line, when we previewed the line in early July, we learned a little behind the concept of this line:
We have a loyal group of fans that have been with us since day one. We call these fans ‘FOL’ (Friends of Lou) No matter where we travel in the country we find some FOL. Over the years we have received many suggestions for new cigar releases; most of which were comical. One thing that did grab our attention at LER Cigars, was the request to produce a bigger ring gauge non box pressed cigar. Lou and I traveled to our factory in Esteli Nicaragua and our farms in Jalapa; while there Lou started the blending process on a cigar that we have never had in our portfolio. Lou created the right blend to fit this untried vitola, which has become the ‘Lou Rod’.
We also assessed a pre-release version of the Lou Rod just prior to the IPCPR Trade Show.
At a glance, here is a look at the Lou Rod line:
