Altadis USA has informed retailers of a line extension to its re-introduced Juan Lopez line. The Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 4 will add a 7 x 70 frontmark to the Nicaraguan puro line. The Seleccion No. 4 is expected to start shipping this May. It will have an MSRP of $6.75 per cigar.
The Juan Lopez line was made famous in Cuba. About ten years ago, Atladis USA acquired the U.S. naming rights. While they launched a line under that name, it was eventually discontinued a few years ago. Last year at the 2013 IPCPR, Atladis USA launched a new blend bearing the Juan Lopez name.
The Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 scored a 91 this past September on Cigar Coop.
At a glance, here is a look at Atladis USA’s Juan Lopez line:
Blend Profile
The Juan Lopez is an all-Nicaraguan blend:
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Vitolas Available
The first Juan Lopez by Altadis was a box-pressed line of cigars available in five vitolas. The resurrected Juan Lopez is a rounded vitola. The cigars in this line are packaged 16 per box.
Seleccion No. 1: 5 x 54
Seleccion No. 2: 6 x 54
Seleccion No. 3: 6 x 60
Seleccion No. 4: 7 x 70
Note: The Seleccion No. 1 and Seleccion No. 2 share vitola names with its Cuban “cousins”, however these are completely different sizes for the Altadis USA release.

Nice review! There is a nice touch of pepper join the smoke to add some more excitement to the end of this third.
