E.P. Carrillo Medalla D’Platino

New Hampshire retailer Federal Cigar will be receiving its third shop exclusive from E.P. Carrillo. The E.P. Carrillo Medalla D’Platino is scheduled to arrive at Federal Cigar later this month, and will have a familiar look to the previous E.P. Carrillo Federal exclusive, the E.P. Carrillo Medalla D’Oro.

According to Derek Sells, who represents E.P. Carrillo in the Northeast, the Medlla D’Platino will feature a Habano Corojo ’99 wrapper grown in Ecuador.  This is the same wrapper that is being used on the recently announced extension to the INCH line, the E.P. Carrillo INCH C-99.  The binder and filler will be the same at the E.P. Carrillo Medalla D’Oro.  Medalla D’Platino will also be in the same 6 1/2 x 44 lonsdale format as the Medalla D’Oro.  It will feature a silver / platinum sleeve on the upper portion of the cigar as opposed to the gold on the Medalla D’Oro.

The plan is for a run of 250 boxes of ten to be released to Federal Cigar.  Depending on sales, will determine if more are produced.

Back in 2013, the E.P. Carrillo Medalla D’Oro was released.  It was a variation of the E.P. Carrillo NWC Short Run 2012 blend, but in a lonsdale format and additional ligero.  The cigar was released for Federal Cigar’s 92nd Anniversary cigar and finished as the Cigar Coop #4 cigar for 2012.   In 2011, the E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2010 No. 4, an exclusive of the Short Run 2010 blend was released for Federal Cigar’s 90th Anniversary.

The Medalla D’Platino will retail for $8.76 per cigar.
