At the Inter-Tabac 2015 Trade Show, Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG), the parent company of General Cigar Company showcased a new line under its Macanudo Inspirado. The Macanudo Inspirado Black is set to make its debut initially in Germany and the Netherlands with other markets to follow. The Inspirado line is a line that is primarily sold in the European market and currently is not sold in the U.S.
It was in 2014 when STG introduced the first Macanudo Inspirado. This cigar was intended to introduce a bolder smoke under the Macanudo brand to the International (non U.S. market). The new Macanudo Inspirado Black is meant to provide another blend with the same objectives.
Development of the Macanudo Inspirado Black was led by Jhonys Diaz, Vice President of Operations at General Cigar. The cigar features a dark U.S. Connecticut Habano wrapper grown exclusively for STG by the Thrall family. It incorporates a proprietary binder from the Dominican Republic called Vega Especial. Meanwhile the filler is a combination of Dominican Olor, Dominican Piloto Cubano, Honduran, and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The cigar has been released in two sizes in ten count boxes.
