Caldwell Cigar Company’s maduro offering, the Eastern Standard Midnight Express had its official launch at the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show.
Eastern Standard Midnight Express uses the Araparica Connecticut Shade Hybrid leaf found on the company’s Last Tsar line. The difference is the leaf is subject to additional fermentation to transform it into a maduro wrapper.
The Eastern Standard Midnight Express is packaged in 20 count boxes and is available in the following sizes: Corona (5 3/8 x 46), Robusto (5 x 50, SRP $11.20), Toro (6 x 52), and Pyramid (6 x 50). Pricing ranges from $10.00 to $13.80.
While the Midnight Express was launched at the IPCPR Trade Show, a soft “pre pre release” was done for select retailers earlier this year. Following the IPCPR Trade Show, Midnight Express has begun shipping to retailers.
Smoked the robusto this morning, OUTSTANDING!!
Awesome – this is great news. I asked about it at their booth and couldn’t get a definitive answer aside from “Madura wrapper, same binder and filler,” but the boxes at IPCPR lacked the signature “ingredients” label that Caldwell’s other lines got. I’m always curious if it’s the same wrapper with a maduro process or a new wrapper altogether.
