At the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show, in addition to showcasing its own products, Duran Cigars had a cigar on display from a company called Meirelles y Acevedo. It was at the trade show where it was announced that Duran Cigars would be the U.S. distributor for Meirelles y Acevedo.
Meirelles y Acevedo is based in Illinois and derives its name from the company’s principals, Luciano Meirelles and Brian Acevedo. Currently Meirelles y Acevedo has one offering, a 6 x 54 Toro size cigar which features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler. In addition to partnering with Duran Cigars for distribution, the cigars are made at Duran Cigars’ Nicatabaco factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. The cigar is expected to hit wider distribution later this year.
The distribution agreement is the first for Duran Cigars since the company launched in 2013.
