Today Davidoff announced the Davidoff Royal Release, this is a new two vitola cigar line positioned as an ultra-premium offering. These are also two cigars that might be a little familiar to Davidoff fans.
The Davidoff Royal Release consists of a 8 1/4 x 57 Salomones and a 5 1/2 x 55 Robusto size. These two sizes are the same as the limited production Royal Salomones and Royal Robusto, which are also ultra-premium offerings. However the Royal Release is a com different blend from those previous limited Royal releases. In particular, the Royal Release is highlighted by a Aromatica Dominicana, a wrapper that Davidoff says will only be used on the Royal Release line.
For these ultra-premium cigars, they will carry a price tag of $80.00 per cigar for the Royal Robusto, and $100.00 for the Royal Salomones – making them the highest priced regular offerings in the Davidoff portfolio.
Davidoff says thet everything about Royal Release line is “hand picked” using the best materials and talent – namely from the point where the seeds were selected to the point when the cigars are produced and packaged. According to Davidoff, the tobacco seeds used in the blend “were created, germinated, and cultivated especially for this purpose. The tobaccos come from a 2004-05 harvest that had a year of near perfect growing conditions and ideal rainfall. In addition, bales allocated for this project were aged for eight years. In terms of rolling the cigar, eight of Davidoff’s best Master Rollers were selected. These rollers have fifteen years experience and have rolled seven million cigars between them.
“Our aficionados will realise in one beautiful instant that this cigar is the result of a very privileged upbringing. From seed to leaf, to finally blending and rolling the cigar, every step along the way was characterised by the stringent selection criteria, meticulous attention to detail and love that yield a most exceptional cigar. A most uncommon experience, a moment spent savouring this Royal Release cigar from Davidoff is unlike any other. It is a time beautifully and royally filled,” explained Charles Awad, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing & Innovation at Oettinger Davidoff AG.
Each of the two sizes are packaged in ten count lacquered boxes. The cigars also feature a modified Davidoff white band as well as a secondary band.
Davidoff has said the Davidoff Royal Release has shipped to a select set of its U.S. Appointed Merchants. A wider release is planned for the U.S. market this month with an international release planned in late November.
