Camacho Cigars has formally announced the Camacho Liberty 2017 edition. This year’s theme is “Fifteen Years Strong” as it commemorates the 15th anniversary of the annual limited edition series. It’s also a release that brings some changes to the series.
The Camacho Liberty series was first launched in 2002, and since then has been an annual release. The series typically has released a new blend each year in a single size packaged in a coffin. For the most part, the release of the Camacho Liberty has been tied to the annual Independence Day celebrations.
A big change for the Camacho Liberty 2017 is going to be the vitola. Since 2005, the Camacho Liberty has used the brand’s signature 11/18 figurado. This year’s edition will use a 6 x 54 Super Toro format. According to Camacho, the wider vitola format “showcases the spicy and complex taste of this new blend”.
The Camacho Liberty 2017 uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Honduran Corojo binder as well as Dominican Piloto Cubano and Nicaraguan Corojo ’99. The Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 is grown in Estelí and marks the first Camacho Cigar to use this tobacco. According to Camacho, this blend features the most Nicaraguan filler ever used in a Camacho (more than half of the filler). The cigars are produced at Camacho’s new Diadema Cigars de Honduras, S.A factory outside Danli, Honduras.
Each 6 x 54 vitola is packaged in an individual coffin. There are twenty coffins packaged per box with a total production of 50,000 cigars for the U.S. market, an increase of the usual 40,000 allocation that has been seen in recent years. There will also be 20,000 cigars allocated for the international Market. Pricing is set at $20.00 per cigar.
The Camacho Liberty will be launched in the U.S. market beginning June 22, 2017. The international launch will begin in October.
“Camacho Liberty is the pinnacle in our world of Live Loud blends, and this year we raise the bar yet again with a new and impactful taste experience. We are excited to share this milestone year with aficionados of bold cigars across the globe, and mark the second year this special edition series has been distributed internationally,” said Dylan Austin, Vice President of Marketing at Davidoff of Geneva USA in a press release.
