It’s Villiger Cigars’ 130th anniversary, and the company is kicking off the celebration with the announcement of a new brand, Villiger La Vencedora. It’s a cigar that is described as the first ever full-bodied Villiger cigar, and one that also has special meaning to Villiger Cigars chairman of the board, Heinrich Villiger.
In a press release Villiger Cigars explained the background behind La Vencedora:
The years 2016 and 2017 have served as breakthrough years for Villiger Cigars. The company mostly known for creating premium machine manufactured cigars, made a huge splash in the handmade premium market. The Villiger San’Doro Colorado, Villiger La Libertad, and the most recent, the Villiger La Flor De Ynclan have all garnered high ratings, and multiple top 25 rankings. For Heinrich Villiger, it meant it was time to unveil a legacy brand to complete the Villiger handmade premium cigar portfolio.
La Vencedora translates to “The Victor” and according to Villiger, represents the arrival of Villiger Cigars into the premium handmade cigar arena. The idea was to create a follow-up to the highly acclaimed La Flor De Ynclan brand that would “push the envelope” of the traditional Villiger profile. The La Vencedora places Villiger into the full-bodied segment of the premium hand-made cigar market – an area it has not previously played in.
The Villiger La Vencedora is a Nicaraguan pro highlighted by a Nicaraguan Habano Oscuro wrapper. It is available in three sizes, with each presented in 25-count boxes. The cigar is produced at the Joya de Nicaragua factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to use our 130 years of experience to create what I feel is a very special cigar in the Villiger La Vencedora,” commented Heinrich Villiger in a press release.
Rene Castañeda, President of Villiger Cigars North America, added, “We as a team feel that the Villiger La Vencedora is a palate-pleasing, full-bodied, yet elegant cigar, that will satisfy the cigar connoisseur as well as the casual smoker.”
