San Pedro de Macorís

At the 2018 IPCPR Trade Show, Royal Agio Cigars will unveil a new brand known as San Pedro de Macorís. The new brand introduces two new value handmade lines into the company’s portfolio.

San Pedro de Macorís is a city located in the Dominican Republic. It also happens to be the city where Royal Agio’s handmade cigar factory is located. There will be two lines introduced – San Pedro de Macorís Ecuador and San Pedro de Macorís Brazil.

The San Pedro de Macorís Ecuador uses an Ecuadorian-grown Connecticut wrapper while the San Pedro de Macorís Brazil utilizes a sun-grown Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper. Both sizes will be offered in three sizes, each packaged in 20-count boxes: Perla (4 1/2 x 40, SRP $4.75), Corona (5 7/8 x 42, SRP $5.00), and Robusto (5 1/8 x 52, SRP $5.50).

“We set out to craft a uniquely sophisticated, everyday premium cigar, one that would exceed cigar smoker expectations and rewrite the rules on the level of quality and distinctiveness one could expect at a reasonable price. It was a tremendous challenge, as expected, requiring years of development with high-grade premium tobaccos to create these final blends,” commented Jaime Florez-Estrada, Vice President of Marketing for Royal Agio Cigars USA, in a press release.

Francisco Batista, Premium Cigar Master Blender for Royal Agio Cigars added, “Everyone at the factory in San Pedro de Macorís is extremely proud to be a part of this cigar project that directly reflects the local way of life in this town, one that seeks to enhance everyday experiences and enjoyment, no matter what it is. We can’t wait for you to try these cigars!”

San Pedro de Macorís joins the Balmoral line, which is the company’s super-premium line as its handmade offerings. Royal Agio Cigars recently announced it was adding two new blends to that brand.

The new San Pedro de Macorís lines are expected to ship to U.S. retailers beginning in August 2018.
