Davidoff is getting ready to release the 2018 edition of its Davidoff Chefs Edition, a release that is done in collaboration with top chefs around the world. It’s a project that brings together the world of cigar making and culinary arts. The cigar is being branded Davidoff Chefs Edition 2018 50th Anniversary to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Davidoff brand.
The Davidoff Chefs Edition made its debut in 2016. The same blend made a return in 2017. For the Chefs Edition 2018, there is a different blend, and a different team of culinary chefs who worked on the project.
There are five chefs who participated on the project. These chefs have a combined 12 Michelin stars, one of the most coveted honors for a chef.
- Thomas Keller, The French Laundry in Yountville, USA,
- Alvin Leung from Bo Innovation in Hong Kong,
- Klaus Erfort from his eponymous Gästehaus in Saarbrücken, Germany,
- Heiko Nieder from The Restaurant in Zurich, and
- Shaun Rankin from Ormer Mayfair in London.
As for the blend, the Davidoff Chefs Edition 2018 utilizes a Dominican wrapper, San Andres Negro binder, and a combination of Nicaragua and Dominican tobaccos in the filler. The cigar is available in one size – a 6 x 54 Toro. The cigars are presented in 10-count boxes with a total allocation of 5,000 boxes. The cigars will feature the commemorative Davidoff 50th anniversary banding.
“Discipline and passion for your work certainly are the cornerstones of continuous success,” commented Chef Klaus Erfort in a press release, “but also the feeling of making guests happy. Seeing the smiling faces when they leave the restaurant in the evening is a consistent source of motivation.”
“I firmly believe that no true progress can be made without the best ingredients,” added Chef Shaun Rankin. “Only when you handle these with respect can you develop recipes and your own repertoire and personal style.”
Chief Marketing Officer Edward Simon said, “In bringing together the creative powers of international kitchen pioneers with Davidoff’s cigar visionaries in the Dominican Republic, we intended to create an extraordinary cigar experience inspired by flavours from the four corners of the world. These highly acclaimed Chefs and Master Blenders, whose mission is continually to push the boundaries of taste, have truly excelled in creating a blend and experience second to none.”
The Davidoff Chefs Edition 2018 is set to arrive at Davidoff Appointed Merchants this month.
