This month Altadis U.S.A. will introduce a 38 x 4 offering of its H. Upmann Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez cigar available in tins known as “Papi.”
The name “Papi” is a term of endearment. It is a term used by master blender AJ Fernandez for those who are close to him. The cigar itself is a handmade premium cigar offering and is positioned for those looking for a convenient time-efficient vitola.
The blend is the same as its larger counterparts. The cigar features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 binder, and Nicaraguan Criollo ’98 and Dominican Piloto Cubano fillers. The cigars are packaged in six-count tins with an MSRP of $23.10.
“We felt strongly that AJ Fernandez could create a small 38 X 4 sized vitola, that would fill that need for those adult consumers looking for a premium short smoke,” commented H. Upmann brand manager Candela Diaz in a press release. “The H. Upmann Nicaraguan Papi is a masterpiece blend, which will be housed in an attractive and convenient, easy to carry decorative tin.”
