Casa de Montecristo has announced the 2020 Texas Cigar Festival and Smokin’ In The Carolinas events have been cancelled. The cancellation is due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company issued the following statement:
Our team has been closely monitoring guidance of public health officials, and government agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization. After careful and thoughtful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s 2020 Texas Cigar Festival and Smokin’ In The Carolinas Events.
While the team has been hard at work preparing amazing festivals for you, we put the health and safety of our guests, associates, and community first. Given the information and guidance provided surrounding large gatherings we have had to make this difficult decision to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our guests.
Our team will be working even harder to make next year’s events bigger and better. We thank you for being a loyal customer, we are privileged to serve you and look forward to hosting you at next year’s Texas Cigar Festival and Smokin’ In The Carolina’s Events.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Texas Cigar Festival had been rescheduled to August 8 while Smokin in the Carolinas had been rescheduled to September 19th. Now both events will not take place.
Drew Estate had previously announced it had cancelled its Barn Smoker series for 2020. At press time, other festivals such as Rocky Mountain Cigar Festival, Cigar Aficionado’s Las Vegas and Miami Big Smokes, and RoMa Craft Tobac’s inaugural WeaselFest are still planned to take place. Last night Erik Espinosa announced on Prime Time Episode 142 he will make a final decision for La Zona Palooza 2020 on August 1st.
