De Los Reyes went into the 2021 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show with the booth model it has used for the past few years. This  booth has been a personal favorite of the Cigar Coop team for several years. It’s a booth that models their factory in the Dominican Republic. The booth houses not only the brands of De Los Reyes, but several of the brands produced by the De Los Reyes factory including Debonaire House, Topper Cigars, Patoro, and Cattle Baron Cigars. It was a booth busy with action from day one. Today we turn our attention to the Saga brand, which is De Los Reyes’ premium cigar brand.

The Saga brand portion of the book features a library – which is an appropriate setting for the Saga Short Tales series. This year De Los Reyes showcased the seventh installment of its Saga Short Tales, Saga Short Tales Tomo VII – Tales of the Land: Navarrete. It’s the first installment of the Saga Short Tales brand in three years. The concept behind the line is a series of unique smaller, sized cigars – each with a different blend, different vitola, and different theme. The themes in the Short Tales series each pay homage to the art of tobacco and/or tobacco making.

The name Navarrete refers to a city located just outside of the city of Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic. With this cigar, the Reyes family pays tribute to the place where the family harvested the first crop of Piloto Cubano in the Dominican Republic. The Saga Short Tales Tomo VII – Tales of the Land: Navarrete is a 5 x 52 box-pressed Robusto – and it’s the first box-pressed installment of the Saga Short Tales series.

Saga Short Tales Tomo VII uses the book-style packaging featured on the previous six editions – complete with a story.

There was one unfinished piece of business the Cigar Coop team had. That was to award the 2019 Cigar of the Year Award for the previous installment of the Saga Short Tales Series, Tomo VI: The Sixth Element: El Tabaco by De Los Reyes Cigars. We prefer to give this award in person and due to the cancellation of the 2020 PCA Trade Show thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, we held onto the award until this year. The whole Reyes family joined in for the presentation (we will have a follow-up video on this presentation).
