Drew Estate has announced a new 6 x 60 Gordo size for its Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve Barrel Fermented line. The new Gordo size will be exclusive to Pappy & Company’s pappyco.com website before being made available to Drew Diplomat retailers in 2023.
The cigars feature a Tapa Negra-style Kentucky Fire-Cured and a barrel-aged wrapper over a Mexican San Andres base wrapper, as well as an aged Nicaraguan binder, and Nicaraguan and Kentucky Fire-Cured filler tobaccos. The cigars will be presented in ten-count boxes and priced at $17.50 per cigar or $175.00 per box.
The Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve Barrel Fermented line was first introduced in 2014 as an exclusive offering to pappyco.com. In 2019, the line was taken national to Drew Diplomat retailers, but some sizes have remained exclusive to pappyco.com.
“Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve Barrel Fermented cigars are a symbol of quality, distinction and rarity, just like our family’s bourbon,” says Carrie Van Winkle Greener, Co-Founder of Pappy & Company in a press release. “We are proud of our collaboration with Jonathan and the rest of the Drew Estate team to produce a completely one-of-a-kind cigar that deepens our family’s legacy for producing authentic handcrafted high-quality products and expands our already widely popular collection of Barrel Fermented cigars.”
“Pappy Barrel Fermented stands alone as the most difficult, complex blend we have ever produced due to the intricate level of leaf processing in both Kentucky and Louisiana, as well as leaf placement at the factory floor,” added Jonathan Drew. “Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve Barrel Fermented is complicated to produce, and this is the singular reason that we produce very few of them.”
Other sizes that have been offered in the Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve Barrel Fermented include a Robusto (5 1/4 x 52), Toro (6 x 52), Churchill (7 x 48), Flying Pig (3 15/16 x 60), and Limitada (4 7/8 x 60).
