At the 2022 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Alec Bradley Cigar Company will launch the third installment of its Experimental Series, the Alec Bradley Double Broadleaf. It’s the first full line released by Alec Bradley since the 2020 release of the Project 40 Maduro.

Keeping to the mantra of the Experimental Series, the blend features Broadleaf tobacco for both the wrapper and binder. Broadleaf tobacco is a tobacco we haven’t really seen from Alec Bradley, but there is another component to this experimentation. Company founder Alan Rubin asked a premium cigar industry friend for some seeds of coveted Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco to plant in the rich soils of Honduras. After several years of testing, the tobacco was deemed ready to use and Rubin created the blend with his sons Alec and Bradley to create the Alec Bradley Double Broadleaf.

“Alec, Bradley and I wanted to create a cigar spotlighting the beautiful Broadleaf wrapper we grew,” Alan said. “As we blended though, we all craved more of that bold, rich flavor that Broadleaf imparts, so we doubled-down and added a Broadleaf binder leaf to the blend- which also led to the name: Double Broadleaf.”

In addition to the Honduran-grown Broadleaf for the wrapper and binder, the blend also features an additional binder leaf from Nicaragua over a core blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The cigars will come in five sizes – each in 24-count boxes. Production is handled out of Tabacos de Oriente in Honduras.

The PCA Trade Show opens July 9, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alec Bradley still has a ship date pending for the Double Broadleaf.
