The Year of the Rabbit on the Chinese Zodiac once again arrives in 2023. As it has since 2018, Maya Selva Cigars will have a cigar to commemorate the year – the Flor de Selva Año Del Conejo 2023.
Each of the Maya Selva Cigars’ Chinese New Year releases has also paid homage to the Mayan culture. The Mayans once inhabited western Honduras in the city of Copan. In both Chinese and Mayan cultures, animals, their symbolism and iconography, play a crucial role in spirituality. The ancient Maya believed that we each have a “nahual” — an animal spirit that guides us through life. Each of Maya Selva Cigars special edition boxes are decorated with a design that combines traditional Chinese patterns and Mayan hieroglyphics.
With the Año Del Conejo 2023, it pays homage to 18 Rabbit, the 13th ruler of Copan, who ruled from 695 to 738 A.D.. Based on the number of structures and monuments built during his reign, he is considered the greatest patron of the arts in the history of Copan.
The cigar itself is a Honduran puro. It will be released in one size – a 5 1/2 x 48 Corona. The cigars will be presented in ten-count boxes. The cigar is expected to be showcased at InterTabac 2022.
