The Pennsylvania legislature has introduced H.B. 1657, a bill that would remove exemptions to smoking that were provided in the State’s 2008 Clean Indoor Act. Removing these exemptions would result in a widespread indoor smoking ban in Pennsylvania. The bill was introduced on September 6th, 2023, and according to the Premium Cigar Association (PCA), a hearing is scheduled for today.
The bill has proposed that the following exemptions to the Clean Indoor Act be removed:
- Private Clubs
- Cigar Bars or any drinking establishment
- Tobacco Shops
- Workplace
- Hotels
- Exhibition Hall
- Conference Center
- Catering Halls
- Long-Term Care Facilities
- Full-Service Truck Stops
Yesterday, the PCA issued a “Call to Action” on the bill, urging its members to oppose it.

I care about my health and my lungs. I’m not a smoker and I don’t want to breathe anybody’s other smoke. 2nd hand smoke kills too if nobody told you! I like most people enjoy going places and going into places and breathing clean air. We care about our health even if you don’t!!! I hope and pray this bill is turned down ( hard )!!!!!! Apparently you don’t care about children’s health or people already having to use oxygen just to get through 1 more day maybe because they used to be a smoker or because of other reasons they don’t need nor want to be around the reason they’re on oxygen. THINK…. USE THE BRAIN GOD GAVE YOU…. SMOKING KILLS!!!!!!

Smoke in your home all you want. In private clubs, restaurants it’s up to the management to decide , not government.
