PCA 2024 Padrón

Padrón Cigars was one of the big stories at the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show. It isn’t every year that Padrón releases a cigar, and it’s even less common to see a major release by the company. This year, Padrón had both as the company unveiled its Padrón 60th anniversary cigars. Padrón made the most of this week, including Jorge Padrón giving the keynote speech.

The keynote speech took place before the actual trade show opened. Charlotte Retailer Craig Cass introduced Jorge Padrón. In his remarks, Jorge reflected on his late father, José Orlando Padrón, and the values he and his father shared. He also shared some of the company’s history. The keynote included a video interview done 12 years ago on José Padrón. Jorge noted that many had not met nor heard his father speak, so I imagine this was a treat. The video also featured Jorge Padrón delivering additional reflections. The video showed a couple of shots of the Padrón 60th cigar. The keynote finished with Jorge Padrón recognizing the Padrón family. The details were not disclosed on the 60th until the Trade Show opened.

Following his keynote address, Jorge invited his family on stage.

The Padrón 60th was front and center when the Trade Show floor opened. Par for the course, it is offered in natural and maduro options.

The cigar is a rounded 6 1/2 x 56 perfecto. It’s the first time since the Padrón Serie 1926 80 Years that Padrón has released as a perfecto. An individual coffin houses each cigar. The coffins are sold at ten per box. For those asking, pricing was not available for the Padrón 60th, nor was a ship date.

The bands offered some nostalgia. It features the company’s original logo with the name PADRÓN over an image of Cuba. The bands have a more regal look than the original.

Padrón has also teamed up with S.T. Dupont for a limited collection of Padrón 60th accessories. I really liked the unveiling of the S.T. Dupont accessories held at the Padrón booth. I’m a big fan of unveilings at the Trade Show and would like to see more of them. Jorge Padrón and S.T. Dupont CEO Alain Crevet conducted the unveiling.

The line features the Padrón 60th branding and includes several lighters, including S.T. Dupont’s signature Line and Le Grand offerings, as well as the S.T. Dupont Cigar Stand Cutter.
