Oz Family Cigars has announced a new limited edition cigar to its Bosphorus line, the Laguito No 6. This adds a new 6 1/2 x 56 parejo size to the Bosphorus line. Cigar Aficionado first reported the information, and Oz Family Cigars later posted it on social media.
The Laguito No 6 is also different from the rest of the line in that it is rounded. Bosphorus’s regular production offerings are box-pressed. Additionally, the cigar features a pig-tail cap and a closed footer. Production comes for Casa Carrillo. Like the core line, the blend for the Laguito No 6 features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a double binder of Ecuadorian Connecticut and Nicaraguan leaves over a filler of all Nicaraguan tobaccos.
The 6 1/2 x 56 Laguito No 6 size is analogous to the Cohiba Behike BHK 56. We are starting to see it at Casa Carrillo, and there is a reason. Casa Carrillo factory manager Jose Fernandez Maique worked on the Behike project at Habanos. A similar project has been done with E.P. Carrillo’s Encore with the Edicion Unica I Solidarios, which is also produced out of Casa Carrillo.
Bosphorus was Tim Ozgener’s first line when he returned to the cigar industry with Oz Family Cigars. The cigar is named for the Bosphorus Strait, which runs through Istanbul, Turkey, and separates Europe from Asia. The cigar showcases the heritage of the Ozgener family. Ozgener’s mother was Turkish, and his father Cano was Armenian. Ozgener is particularly proud of the fact that despite a rocky history between Turkey and Armenia, his parents were married for over 55 years and achieved the American dream.
Cigar Aficionado reported the pricing of the Laguito No 6 at $15.95. The cigars come in 12-count boxes (as opposed to 20 for the core offerings) and will ship in September.
