Aganorsa Leaf’s pre-industry tobacco processing facility just south of Estelí, Nicaragua caught fire yesterday late in the afternoon.
“Yesterday one of our preindustrias caught fire. No one was hurt and although this is a great loss we are fortunate to have other facilities with lots of tobacco to minimize the impact on our operations,” commented Terence Reilly, Vice President of Sales and Marketing in a statement to Cigar Coop.
According to La Voz del Norte, firefighters and the army were called in to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire at the Aganorsa Leaf facility has yet to be determined.
La Voz del Norte posted an aerial video via drone of the fire on its Facebook page.
This is the second pre-industry fire this week. On Monday, Universal Leaf’s Inetab-Kaubeck pre-industry facility in the Dominican Republic suffered significant losses due to a fire.
