A fire that broke out Monday morning, 9/2/24, damaged Inetab-Kaubeck, Universal Leaf’s tobacco processing facility in Moca, Dominican Republic. According to a report by El Caribe, the fire affected two warehouses of Inetab-Kaubeck and caused extensive damage.
Henderson Ventura, owner of ADVentura Cigars and Tabacalera Mina del Rey, posted a video of the fire on his social media account. While the factory did not affect Tabacalera Mina del Rey’s facilities, Ventura said the Connecticut Broadleaf and Pennsylvania tobacco he uses is processed at Inetab-Kaubeck. This includes the wrapper for the King’s Gold line. Ventura mentioned that his company’s operations could be impacted by the availability of tobacco supply.
Moca is located southeast of Tamboril in the Espaillat province. El Caribe also reported firefighters were called in from La Vega, Santiago, Licey al Medio, San Víctor, Villa González, and Moca to extinguish the fire.
